Where Gravity wins
- •Five people free instead of three.
- •It works in a browser, so it is not tied to an iPhone.
- •It opens WhatsApp, iMessage or a call for you from inside the app. Ciao! does not do that yet: you open the app yourself.
Where Ciao! wins
- •$9.99 once, against $24 every year. After one year that is more than twice the price, and it keeps going.
- •No account, and no email from it. Everything happens on your phone.
- •The phone app is the whole of Ciao!. Gravity’s phone apps are in beta, and its own site says so.
Which one should you actually get?
Gravity is the closest thing to Ciao! in spirit. Same warmth, same refusal to make you feel bad. The real differences are the price over time, the account, and where it lives. If you want it in a browser, take Gravity. If you want one app on your phone that you pay for once, take Ciao!.
