N Where Nametag wins
- •50 people free on the hosted version, and no limit at all if you run it on your own server.
- •An interactive graph of how everyone you know is connected, with your own relationship types.
- •Two-way sync with Google Contacts, iCloud, Outlook and Nextcloud, and it opens on any device with a browser.
Where Ciao! wins
- •A real iPhone app, with notifications and a home screen widget. Nametag runs in a browser and has no app of its own yet.
- •Each friend has a rhythm and a timer from the last time you talked. Nametag’s free plan has 5 reminders in total.
- •WhatsApp, Message and Call buttons for each friend, and a deck on Sunday of who is due.
Which one should you actually get?
Nametag suits people who like the web, want to see their whole network as a graph, or want to run it on their own server for free. It is also very cheap. Ciao! is for keeping up with friends from your iPhone: a rhythm for each one, a weekly deck, and a button to message them.
