Where Amicu wins
- •Nearly everything is free, with no limit on people. Premium only adds custom reminders, a time budget and some sorting.
- •It is a full contacts app too. It follows your address book and its groups, lets you edit contacts, and finds the ones missing a phone number or a birthday.
- •Siri and Shortcuts can mark someone as in touch, and you can mark many people at once at the end of the day.
Where Ciao! wins
- •One deck on Sunday with everyone who is due. Amicu works with a reminder for each person and a goal for every day.
- •An animal for each friend, so you can see at a glance who you have not talked to in a while.
- •Your own iCloud keeps a copy, so a new phone brings everything back. Amicu has no server and keeps it all on the one device.
Which one should you actually get?
On paper Amicu is the better deal: nearly every feature is free, and it doubles as a contacts manager. It has also had no update since September 2024. Pick Amicu if you want a free tool and a small daily habit. Pick Ciao! if you want one check a week, a backup in your own iCloud, and an app that is still being worked on.
