Ciao! vs Knei
Knei, by Knei LLP
A web app for building relationships, with notes on each talk, a timeline for each person, and email reminders for the talks it recommended.
Never in the App Store; it ran in a browser. It has closed: knei.space now shows a different company’s site, and the last archived Knei page is from March 2026.

K What Knei did well
- •Talk notes you could type, or transcribe from audio in one click.
- •Reasons to get in touch: the person’s social media and news about their interests, on one page.
- •A timeline for each person, so you could see a friendship grow over the years.
Where Ciao! wins
- •Ciao! has no server of its own, so your notes do not depend on a company staying open. They live on your phone and in your own iCloud.
- •$9.99 once. Knei started at $7 a month.
- •One deck on Sunday of the friends who are due, inside the app, where Knei sent nudges by email.
Which one should you actually get?
Knei has closed, so it is no longer an option. If you liked its timeline and talk notes and want a web app, Monica is the closest thing still running. If you are on an iPhone and want a reminder based on how long it has been, with notes that come back when you get in touch, Ciao! does that with no account.
